Jennifer Serrano
“I EXCEL AT WORK BECAUSE I LEARNED SO MANY THINGS I COULD PUT TO USE ON THE JOB.”
In 2005, Jennifer Serrano began her career as a Clerk at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx. Known for her personable nature, intelligence, and ambition, she quickly ascended the ranks, becoming the Executive Assistant to the Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology.
Holding such a prestigious position within the hospital and globally, Jennifer decided to further her education to keep pace with the position. She decided to obtain her Bachelor's degree at Monroe through the Corporate Partners Program.
As an employee of Montefiore, which participated in the program, she was eligible for a 20 percent tuition discount. This opportunity was particularly beneficial for Jennifer, a single mother, who enrolled in the Accelerated Bachelor’s Program and completed her degree in three years. This education greatly enhanced her performance at work, allowing her to apply new knowledge directly to her job.
Jennifer also obtained a certificate in Project Management, which she found invaluable in her role as the Project Manager for Montefiore’s cancer service line. Her responsibilities included implementing programs, managing workflows, and overseeing projects across all oncology departments and multidisciplinary services, covering the entire patient journey from suspicion of cancer to survivorship services.
Jennifer achieved another milestone by graduating with her MBA from Monroe, completing the program in just two years while working full-time. As a Monroe alum, she received an alumni grant that covered half her tuition for the program.
Throughout her time at Monroe, Jennifer experienced exceptional support from the staff, which contributed to her positive educational experience.
