Jermaine Bhoorasingh
“My professors gave me an edge when starting my career.”
Originally from Jamaica, Jermaine Bhoorasingh came to Monroe after attending a job fair back home. He was the first in his family to attend college in the U.S.
“There is so much more opportunity here,” he explains.
Jermaine earned a bachelor’s degree in information technology summa cum laude from Monroe in 2013. He was a member of the National Society of Black Engineers, serving as its vice president for one year. He also had an information technology internship at the Department of Probation.
Today, Jermaine is thriving as a systems engineer at Point72 Asset Management, a hedge fund in Stamford, CT.
“While earning a degree on foreign soil can be a challenge, I had a great experience at Monroe,” Jermaine recalls. “My professors helped guide me through the coursework and provided insights on the technology world. They gave me an edge when I started my career.”
