Monroe offers me the ability to continue challenging myself to become better and develop skills I can utilize both in the military and in civilian life.
Joshua Kellowan received his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity from Monroe University in 2020. Joshua served in the U.S. Army for 12 years as a Human Intelligence Collector and was deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.
"Going to Monroe was a logical step for me while trying to better myself as a professional. Monroe offers me the ability to continue challenging myself to become better and develop skills I can utilize both in the military and in civilian life. The flexibility of classes allowed me to change between being a day student and night student seamlessly and as often as I needed. When I deployed in 2017, I was just finishing my second semester at Monroe. I thought it would be difficult to come back and continue my education, but I was able to return and pick up exactly where I left off in my studies as if I never left at all.
"As a Veteran, Monroe is where you want to be. The staff was always able to answer all of the questions about my benefits and always kept in contact with me to help ensure I stayed on top of my administrative affairs. The Student Veterans of America chapter at Monroe is one of the best clubs I have participated in. Being able to find a group of people who share the same kind of history as you and the same current struggle of studying for midterms or finals is always great.
“Everyone from Professors to the administrative staff are all so supportive; once you get going, they’re with you every step of the way. I knew going to college would be tough, but Monroe made my undergrad seem so easy. Now I’m looking at graduate programs so I can continue to challenge myself and continue to be the best I can be.”
