Joy Minaya

“Monroe has conceptualized information that many of us are doing already at work.”

Joy Minaya is the administrative director of internal medicine and pediatrics at Montefiore Medical Group in the Bronx. Previously, Joy worked as the program administrator in the Behavioral Health Center at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. She received a bachelor's degree in business administration with a focus on health services administration in 2014, and then a master's degree in public health in 2017, both from Monroe University.

Joy came to Monroe University with over a decades worth of experience originally coming into the trenches just needing formal education and a degree to advance in her professional field. She soon discovered it was not ultimately about the piece of paper.

Monroe is a leading edge institution providing professionals in the field to facilitate classroom discussions. Engaging with Professors that are experts in our neighborhood and community are able to offer real world experience to their students. The quality of the lessons and the people who teach them goes beyond just a certificate or diploma.

Joy said she was able to succeed because she was learning alongside the focused student body and invested professors that are there for their students. “Monroe is the reason you want to educate yourself,” she said. “Monroe has conceptualized information that many of us are doing already at work.”
