Micheline Ivery was building a financial career for herself at home in Jamaica, but saw a niche for herself in the healthcare industry when she moved to New York. “When I saw the need here, I wanted to assist people and make a difference.
“Monroe helped me get a job as an intern in the hematology and oncology department at Montefiore Hospital. By the time I graduated, I was offered a full-time position at Montefiore and I’m now the senior secretary to the division chief of the Hematology Department.”
Micheline recently received her Master of Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics. She earned her bachelor’s degree in health services administration summa cum laude in 2016, and her associate degree in medical administration cum laude in 2014. She was a member of the Allied Health Club, and is the first person in her family to graduate from college.
“Coming to Monroe was one of the best decisions I ever made," says Micheline. "The biggest bonus is the faculty, who serve as guides to get you through the curriculum. They encouraged me and pushed me further than I could have imagined.”
