President Marc Jerome Recognized for His Impact on Higher Education in New York State
President Marc Jerome was recently listed among the “Higher Education Power 100” list issued by City and State: New York magazine. The annual ranking recognizes those making a profound impact on higher education in New York State.
As the publisher noted, the list doesn’t merely reflect the institutions with the best outcomes, such as graduation rates, grades, and test scores.
Instead, it seeks to honor those who also clearly go above and beyond what is expected of them in their roles, with an emphasis on their “extracurricular activities outside the classroom…to make the state a better place.”
Since becoming the College’s president in January 2017, Marc Jerome has focused on leading the institution forward as a national leader in educating first generation, urban, and international students. His vision for increasing college access, affordability, and attainment, especially for local New York students, has resulted in a number of pioneering programs at Monroe that are delivering exceptional outcomes.
In naming President Jerome to the list, City and State commented:
Since 2017, Marc Jerome has introduced a number of programs at Monroe University that have allowed over a thousand New Yorkers to earn a private college education without taking on any student debt. In February, the school launched the Institute for Civic Engagement and Social Justice, for which Jerome will co-teach classes. He currently serves on the board of trustees of the state Higher Education Services Corporation.
Congratulations, President Jerome, on this well-deserved recognition!
