“I’m grateful for the chance to study in the U.S. and hope to work here for several years before I go back to China.”
“I’ve found the Monroe professors to be very helpful in my academics,” says Zhyang Shen, who is currently earning a Master of Public Health degree. “My favorite class so far has been global health, which allowed me to do research on health problems in different countries, gather data and make comparisons. I find that very interesting.”
In addition to her course load, Shen spends 20 hours a week at her internship in a Queens clinic, where she is a health counselor, guiding patients to take charge of their health and commit to better health practices.
A native of Shanghai, Shen says she finds New York to be a very similar city. “I’m grateful for the chance to study in the U.S. and hope to work here for several years before I go back to China,” she says.
